Overspray

Material portion of the sprayed lacquer that does not deposit on the workpieces surface. It is assumed that during the process manual coating, the overspray rate of loss is about 50%. In order to minimize overspray various techniques are applied- the most common one being electrostatic coating. This process is based on a simple principle. Coating particles become electrostatically charged. As a result, they follow the field lines and deposit on the surface of the workpiece. In doing so, overspray is reduced.
