Chromating

Pretreatment method used for aluminum, magnesium, and zinc. Within this chemical pretreatment process, work pieces are bathed in chromic acid. As a result, a chromate coat is formed at the metallic surface, which serves as a protection against corrosion or as a bonding agent for following coatings.
